Data center modernization

Definition:

Data center modernization is the organizational decision to restructure how data is captured and stored within a company based on organizational needs, economic trends and new technologies available.

The driving factors behind a data center modernization usually include a need for a system which will convert current data seamlessly into a new system and a way to capture new data in the same fashion. Data quality plays a large role in any modernization decision.

Modernization software is particularly popular in the government and utilities sectors as government agencies have a large amount of contact data that must be switched over to a new system. As this is often sensitive information, the quality of the data being entered into the new system is of the utmost importance.
