CASS™ address standardization

Definition:

CASS™ address standardization is the process of standardizing addresses so that they follow the USPS® Coding Accuracy Support System (CASS™) requirements.

CASS™ certification is based on accuracy in ZIP codes™, ZIP +4® codes, and delivery point codes. CASS™ refers specifically to the verification status of a contact list or address database. Address verification software can perform CASS™ address standardization only when it is evaluated and CASS™ certified by the United States Postal Service.

By adopting a CASS™ certified software and having a certified database, companies can receive discounts in shipping and bulk mailing costs. In addition, companies will benefit from having a verified and standardized contact database and can increase both efficiency and accuracy in bulk mailings.
